Dundee West Community Trust are delighted to announce a partnership with the new Dundee Ford dealership, Dundee Ford Centre.
With the completion of their new 3G artificial pitch and arena the timing couldn’t be better for Dundee West Community Trust. The four-year partnership sees the new state of the art arena named the Dundee Ford Centre Community Arena and Dundee Ford Centre as proud shirt sponsors of all the girls teams from the under 6’s right up to the senior women’s team.
Paul Gibson, Chairperson of Dundee Northwest Community Sports Club & Dundee West CT said “This is a significant step in our development with our new 3G facility at Charlotte Street. The opportunity to work in partnership with Dundee Ford Centre was an exciting one for us where our values aligned for supporting local communities and working with Dundee Ford Centre will allow us to continue our work in making a difference to local people.
The Dundee Ford Centre Community Arena which Dundee Northwest CSC have delivered used by all Dundee West and the wider community was officially opened last week with a grand opening which brought together funders, partners and key stakeholders to showcase the facility.
This gave the opportunity to share some of the exciting plans that will benefit Dundee West Community Trust members and will aim to serve and promote sport in Ardler, St Mary’s, Kirkton and Downfield where it will use the power of football to support young people with activities including recreational drop-in football and a brand-new Friday Night Youth Diversionary project which has recently started.
Tam McCabe, Community Trust Manager of Dundee West CT highlighted, this facility allows everyone to have a sense of belonging. Our aim is to provide a wide range of accessible and inclusive projects that will support those most vulnerable but also give anyone the opportunity regardless of how good they are to come along for a kickabout. The vision is that the Dundee Ford Centre Community Arena will become the heart of the community and schools and other orgnasations can benefit from.”
The facility cost in the region of £900,000 and involved a range of funding support from the Scottish FA, Dundee City Council, as well as SportScotland, NorthWood Charitable Trust, Garfield Weston Foundation, NHS, The Scottish Football Partnership Trust along with George Allan and Paul Gibson, Club Chairsperson of Dundee Northwest CSC who led on the development of the project and most recently the Dundee Ford Centre.
The investment and support from Dundee Ford Centre, part of the family owned Your Ford Centre group will allow Dundee West Community Trust to reach more people in the local area and let more people take advantage of the amazing new facility and just enjoy playing football. Dundee West Community Trust believe that football should be available to people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds and this investment will really allow them to expand that ethos.
Ben Short, Director of Dundee Ford Centre said
“Dundee Ford Centre part of the Your Ford Centre group is a family run business which relies heavily on its local community. We always look for ways that we can provide support back to local organisations who would benefit from it.
This project and the ethos of the club are exactly the type of thing we as a company want to support. We strongly believe sport should be inclusive of all and we are delighted to partner with Dundee West Community Trust to try and make that the case in Dundee.
When we heard that the new arena would be ready almost at the same time as us opening, we were really keen to see what we could do to help the club, and we look forward to working closely with them for years to come”.
Dundee Ford Centre is now open at Baird Avenue in Dundee and becomes the fifth Ford dealership in the Your Ford Centre group alongside current dealerships in Cupar, Kirkcaldy, Dalkeith and Peebles.
A specials thanks to our good friends, Icon Signs who designed and fitted the new visuals around the Dundee Ford Centre Community Arena.
