##Scottish cup last 16 Day##
Dundee West hosted Gairdoch United at Downfield Juniors both teams hoping to progress into the quarter finals of the Scottish cup.
What a start! With only 1 minute on the clock and a pass through from Josh Holt and somehow the Gairdoch keeper couldn't hold it and the ball ended up in the back of the net. You have to feel sorry for the Gairdoch keeper as nerves probably played a part but 1-0 West .
Gairdoch showed why they were in the last 16 and not a team to be taken lightly, they moved the ball well and probably had most of possession in first half, but Dundee West were solid and composed at the back and with fast counter attacks looked more threatening in front of goal. Half time ended 1-0.
Second half started very much the same and with only a one goal lead was very nervy at times. But on 63 minutes Josh Holt picked up the ball on the edge of box turned one way then the other then eventually got his shot off to rifle the ball in the back of the net, great goal assisted by Harry Welsh.
2 minutes later Carden Forbes played a pass through to Harry Welsh who thumped the ball into the back of the net and send Dundee West into the quarter finals!!!
A very good team performance from every one of the players today who battled for every ball and also denied 2 clear penalty claims which might have come back to haunt us. Motm Josh Holt who seemed to be everywhere today, special mention to Callum Luke who kept their big striker very quiet . But as a whole the team were absolutely astounding today!
