28/09/2020

"The winner of this award went above & beyond, responding with passion and enthusiasm when their community needed them most."

We were absolutely delighted to have been chosen as the winner of the Dundee Champion's Award for the Sport & wellbeing category.

The awards were held to recognise the people/groups in our communities who make our city a fantastic place to live and work in especially throughout Covid-19.

The sport & wellbeing category shortlist included some outstanding people in kanzen karate and Hazel Ednie along with Dundee West FC.

The judges said, "Dundee West Football Club went above and beyond, responding with passion and enthusiasm when their community needed them most."

Tam McCabe, Club Development Officer said, "Obviously it's an absolute huge honour to have been recognised for this award. At the start of the pandemic our aim was to simply use the power of football to help and make a difference to the lives of people across our community. We understood how important community clubs are to the local area and we did all that we could to keep people going physically and mentally! Using sport as the vehicle we were able to engage and deliver street fitness initiatives, run hundreds of zoom sessions to club members and be part of the weekly practical sessions at our local school hub... I must also add a special thank you to all our amazing local partners we built incredible relationships with during the pandemic as this was key to bringing everything together for our community."

A huge thank you to Dundee Champions Awards for a brillant evening recognising the amazing work going on from so many great people and a massive well done to all finalists that were involved.

Together we are stronger!!
