Dundee West Reds 2005s v Jeanswift Swifts
Riverside Stadium
Perth
Kick Off 11.30 am.
On Sunday we were on our travels to Perth visiting Riverside Staium against Jeanfield Swifts.
We started brightly playing some nice football, creating some good chances early on, but just couldn’t find the finishing touch.
20 minutes in with some great play from defence into midfield and feeding the ball into the channel for striker Declan Mason to run onto and slot nicely home to put West 1 up, we continued to press all over the park looking to create another opportunity which came shortly afterwards this time the Jeanfield keeper made an excellent stop from Striker Declan Mason.
West deserved to be at least 2 nil up but 5 mins before the break Jeanfield hit on the counter and with a shin roller somehow managed to level the score at 1-1, West kick off from the resulting goal and we go straight up the park and regain the lead with Andrew Cameron scoring a sweet finish past the keeper.
HT West 2 Jeanfield 1
Into the 2nd and although we started well, we seemed a little of the pace, giving a free kick away just outside box, resulting in Jeanfield equalising for the second time.
Much like the first half we pressed well looking for the goal to put us back in front but just couldn’t find the back of the net, it was Jeanfield who took the lead from a corner kick when the ball dropped inside the 6 yard box with Jeanfield pouncing to go ahead 15 mins in.
After that we were always chasing the game being behind completely against the run of play with 8 mins remaining West won a corner on the right side, Rourke Davidson puts the ball into the box, defenders clear it to the edge of 18 yard box picked up by Josh Abott whose first attempt is blocked but fortunately it came back to Josh who hits an absolute Perla into the top corner to make it 3-3.
FT 3-3
Extra Time
Jeanfield kick off with Dundee West pressing hard again which was a credit to all boys to have the desire to keep pressing.
Again we started strong and playing some excellent football the ball through the pitch well but creating very little in the last third, then West had a massive blow after a crunching tackle on Captain Rourke Davidson he had to come off with a suspected broken wrist after trying break his fall, in everyone’s eyes it was a definite red card, but the ref favoured the Jeanfield player with only a yellow.
7 mins into 1st half of extra time we were undone by yet another corner this time from the left, the ball crossed into the box and the Jeanfield player rises unchallenged to nod home and make it 4-3, again behind against the run of play.?,
Again We have to do it all Over again and come from behind, and what a goal it was Owen Lockhart has picked the ball up on the far side of the park and drove at the defenders skipping past challenge after challenge and somehow shoots in top of the net from almost the by line.
We’re back in it 4 all but the drama is not over, into the 2nd half we go and again we are all over Jeanfield with there keeper picking off some cracking saves, then we’re in we shoot keeper saves and Declan Mason sticks away the rebound, everyone is going crazy only to realise the ref has given off side (never in a month of Sunday’s)
Then more drama in the last min Declan Mason was put through on goal and slots the ball home again only for the ref to blow for full time.
